Rocking GRR on a Symbian or Android phone
« on: August 23, 2010, 11:08:26 PM »
Hi, I must say I truly love GRR.

I first fond it a few years back while looking for new music on my Nokia cell phone.

Last spring I got the new Nokia 5800 that ran a newer Symbian (s60 5th) OS.  This new OS did not support the "Nokia Internet Radio" app that 1st turn me on to GRR.  So after searching all over the place for a new app that had GRR (to no avail) It dawned on me that the phone's defalt player is "Real Player", So I went to GRR dot com clicked on the "Real Player" stream link on the tune-in page, saved the link in the player and all was well in my little world.

Until last week when I got a new Android phone.
The Android market as over a 100 different music apps to chose from. And none of the free ones seemed to have GRR in them. After a lot of Installing and uninstalling of apps I did fond one called "Antropia" that  let's uses add to the database and once added it work flawlessly.

So anyway I spent a lot of time trying  to get GRR on my phone's and was thinking maybe I would save someone else the time by putting it here.

Thanks Trav

Thanks, Trav!

I encourage anyone who has a "Smart Phone" and has successfully connected to the GRR stream (or any standard ShoutCast stream) to share your experience.  I have a Samsung Eternity and still haven't figured out how to get GRR on the darn thing.  Love the phone, but it doesn't have all the cool apps some of the other phones have.  Lucky for me, I get listen to GRR all day.  :)  There are some times when I'm out of the studio though...

When you added GRR to the Antropia database, did you have to enter the raw stream address (http://209.9.238.5:8814) or some other way?
