Yay for GRR!
« on: May 11, 2008, 08:15:24 AM »
I was bummed when Rock Chick Radio went toast.  So happy to have found you, in Second Life, of all places!

The best thing I truly love about your station is the introduction to artists I have never heard before.  Record companies don't get this but if I hear stuff I really like I will support the artist and buy the music legitimately.  So when I am tuned in I keep checking the last 90 songs to catch some names I want to follow up and check out some more.

Kinda clunky, I know.  Do you think it would be possible one day to add an RSS feed or something so I could capture it on an on-going basis?

Awesome station.....  you guys so get it.  The way this business is moving.

Hi Catri!

Glad you found Girls Rock Radio.  I used to love Rock Chicks Radio, too.  When they went down for the second time, I said, "Okay, that's it!  It they won't, I will!"  And so Girls Rock Radio was born.

"Discovery" is a huge part of what Girls Rock Radio is all about.  What you will hear on GRR are deeper, more meaningful cuts from the artists you already know rather than just the same stuff that terrestrial radio is playing.  Yes, there is some of the terrestrial radio stuff - if it's really that good, why not, right?  And as you're finding, I also help you discover new music by playing artists you've never heard before.  Artists that are just starting out or that are independent labels and have not yet achieved national or international recognition.

And in contrast to how Rock Chicks Radio was, I don't play the same song over, and over, and over...

Great suggestion about the RSS feed.  I will look into that as an alternative to the Last 90.  The website is currently undergoing some behind the scenes revisions at this time and I've been looking into ways that more viral features can help us out.

If possible, please purchase music through our Amazon links.  It's one way I get a little $upport and it doesn't cost you any more.  I get very little $upport as it is, to be quite candid, so every little bit helps.  I'm always grateful when a listener contributes to the station through the PayPal link, or even if they just spread the word about Girls Rock Radio.  The more contributing listeners we have the greater the chance we will be able to continue to bring you all this awesome music!
